Disclaimer: I am a Hamilton Beach blogger and the FlexBrew coffee maker was given to me to review. All opinions are my own and I am not compensated for a positive review of the product. I keep it real, y'all!
When I first heard about the Keurig 2.0, I was SO excited. It's the best of both worlds-- sometimes I love a pot of coffee instead of a single cup. Having three little ones, coffee is a necessity to make it through the morning. I am SO not a morning person!! When the box arrived, it was shiny and beautiful.
At first, it was awesome. I loved that I could program it for a fresh cup when I stumble out of bed, blurry eyed. Then I tried one of my favorite hot chocolate k-cups I had on hand and it wouldn't work. You see, if the computer chip doesn't like your k-cup, it won't work. The hot chocolate was even a Green Mountain brand one--but it was over 2 months old. So annoying. Strike one. The following week, I went to buy more of the larger k-cups for the coffee pot and they were $13 for FIVE. No thank you!
I'll admit, I was so excited about how pretty it was at first to face reality. It's EXPENSIVE to keep it up.
So here's a quick rundown on the Keurig 2.0:
- You can only use official Keurig k-cups for it to brew properly. Yes, there are hacks online where you can chop of the lid and yada yada...but I shouldn't HAVE to do that! Also, the k-cups can't be past a certain age. Say goodbye to those ones you found on clearance at Target--they probably won't work.
- No more resuable k-cups--so you can't use your own ground coffee. I have seen a few reusable k-cups for the new brewer floating around online, with mixed reviews.
- The refills are expensive.
- The Keurig seems to brew weaker coffee, even with the strong setting--sometimes I had to use two k-cups!
When I saw that Hamilton Beach had a 2-in-1 FlexBrew coffee maker, I knew it would be a perfect fit! Buh-bye Keurig! The Hamilton Beach version is under $100, too.
Here's why it rocks:
- The price is very affordable. It's almost HALF of the price of the Keurig 2.0!
- It comes with it's own reusable cup for ground coffee.
- You CAN use whatever kind of k-cup you want, also.
- Ground coffee is used in the larger pot--buy whatever kind you love!
Are you dying to try the Hamilton Beach FlexBrew? You're in luck! I'm giving one away. (You knew that was coming though, right?)

This looks awesome!
This would definitely make using coffee creamer more accessible. Love my Aldi's Italian Sweet Creamer!
i add soy milk and stevia
I like my morning coffee black, black, black. Like murky sludge water black. We have a 2.0 and I don't hate it, but I don't love it. The fact that a full pot of coffee is more like 4 cups is a little sad
I like adding milk.
Love the idea of this.
I add a little milk to my coffee sometimes, but mostly I drink it black
I add a lot of creamer to my coffee.

I haven't tried that yet! I'll have to get some on my next trip. Gotta love Aldi!
I love the new Silk creamers--they are SO tasty! Have you tried liquid Stevia?
So true about only 4 cups-I was like "where's the coffee?". I like black coffee when I'm traveling, like from a truck stop.

I like a little coffee with my Thin Mints creamer and sugar. If I can't find that, it's hazelnut all the way!

I enjoy a biscotti with my morning coffee.

I add 1/2 and 1/2 to my morning coffee.
I add 1/2 and 1/2 to my morning coffee.
I only add creamer to my morning coffee
If I'm going to add flavor to my morning coffee, I use a classic flavor, hazelnut. Most days, though, I use a tsp of half and half. My morning coffee is fairly simple and, perhaps, a bit boring. :)
