Refresh Your Fall Wardrobe with #MeijerStyle!

September 26, 2013

Disclaimer: This is a sponsored post and I received a gift card to shop at Meijer.  All opinions are mine!

I am not really into brand names when it comes to clothes.  I buy what I think is cute and, of course, it's usually at least on sale, if not clearance.  Right now I have most of the fall basics: boots, long sleeved tees and some scarves.  I want to update my wardrobe with a few new items (loving the jewel tones everywhere!), but I don't want to spend a ton of money.  Plus, as I'm losing weight, I don't want to waste money on expensive new items I won't wear for a long time.

Check out the fall look book and enter to win a $100 gift card!
I went to Meijer with some ideas of what I needed: a few layering cardigans, new leggings and a bright new scarf.  There was a Saturday sale, so I knew I had about $55 to spend with the gift card.

I was so pleased with their new fall selection.  I am always drawn to jewel and earthy tones and they were everywhere!

I ended up spending $56 after the mPerk deal (only $6 after my gift card!) and I got some fresh items for my closet:
  • 2 cardigans- $14 & $24
  • 1 pair of brown leggings (SO hard to find!)- $8
  • Scarf- $15

This weekend Meijer has a 2 day sale and there is an mPerk for 25% off an apparel item!  I may have to get another one of those fly-open cardigans.  SO comfy!

Helpful App Alert: Care4Today Mobile Health Manager

September 25, 2013

I am awful at remembering to take medications.  When I was taking the birth control pill, I had to set an alarm so I would remember to take it every night (one reason why I chose the Implanon after Gabby).  Vitamins are even worse!  I keep mine next to my toothbrush and I still forget.

There's a new FREE app that will help you with this problem!  Care4Today is available for iPhone and Android.  Don't have a smart phone?  You can sign up on the website and get text alerts!

Care4Today lets you schedule all of your medications, as well as those for your family members (up to 15 people).  You will get alerts when it's time to take your pills, also when it's time to get a refill or new prescription!

Right now the girls aren't taking any meds, but I would love to have this for vitamins in the future.  You can also schedule things like "Feed Rambo", so the poor dog doesn't go unfed.  (Has anyone else been sitting on the couch at 8pm, with the debate with your spouse: Did we feed the dog?).

Since you can link the information with your whole family, you make sure your loved ones are also taking their prescriptions.  This would be especially helpful while caring for a loved one in another location.

Need more of an incentive to take your medication on time?  When you sign up, you chose a charity which Care4Today will donate to daily when you take your meds on time!  They will donate a minimum of $20,000 to each of these charities:
  • American Diabetes Association
  • AIDS United
  • Save the Children

Check out Recipe4Living & Savvy Fork! {New chili recipe up!}

September 22, 2013

Sorry I've been a little quiet lately.  Between my new part-time weekend job and the girls' new schedule, I am TIRED!  I am working at a local grocery stores as a demo lady...soon I will be actually performing cooking demos.  This is perfect because the hours fit in with our schedule and I get to talk to people (probably more than they would like!).  I am so nosy, I always check out what people are buying and I help people find items.  Not quite in my job description, but sometimes the store doesn't have much traffic and I get bored.  SNL totally needs to do a demo lady skit...you should see some of the people I encounter.  It cracks me up.  No joke, I've seen 2 people take out their teeth to taste a sample.  I also love the people who go out of their way to not walk by me so they don't have to interact.  So funny.

Don't be scared of lentils in the chili...or in anything!  I'm loving lentils in breads too.

I also have a new side writing job working for group of awesome websites.  My first recipe for Beef & Lentil Chili went up last week on Recipe4Living.  I will have two new recipes posted on there monthly.  I will also have a few of my recipes on their sister site Savvy Fork, which just launched.  Starting next month, I will have a weekly column as Budget Mom on another sister site Work It Mom.  Whew!

Even though I have other side projects, I am still going to keep up with this blog.  I have some giveaways coming up and fun fall recipes.  Don't you love when the weather gets cooler and all of the fall flavors surround you? I love boots, sweaters, scarves and pumpkin!

Have a wonderful week everyone!  I'm going to kick up my feet and relax tonight!

Wordful Wednesday: Preschool time!

September 11, 2013

This month has been pretty busy in the Evans household so far!  I started my part-time job(s) and the twins are off to morning preschool!  After a long summer, I thought I was ready for them to be at school for the mornings, but it was so hard to say goodbye!  How are my twins in school already?!

Cutest Bears babies EVER!

As hard as I was taking it, Gabby was even more devastated.  Her BFFs are gone for 3 hours a day now!  I have a stash of M&Ms to help bribe her after we drop them off...and she expects to go to Target like we did on the first day.

If you follow my Instagram or FB page, I kind of already photobombed them with the preschool pics, but I wanted to share them on here.  On Saturday the twins also start soccer!  We decided to take a little break from dance...Maddie needs something more active.

When my alarm went off at 6:45 Monday morning, I heard the thunder outside.  I was so bummed because I wanted cute outside pics of the girls.  It was POURING out.  The first thing Olivia said was "We don't have to go to school in this rain, right?". Oh Olivia...just like her Mama.

Of course the ladies need a full belly for school, so I made monkey bread, fruit salad, eggs and smoky links...all of their favs. Since their morning preschool starts at 8:30, we had to bust a move to be able to leave by 8:15.  My girls are suuuper pokey in the morning!!  I was so glad Ricky was able to help me take them on the first day...our schedule is not quite perfect yet!

Gabby = Not Impressed

I saw them holding hands in the car and I had to hold back the tears.  How cute are they?

I hope everyone is enjoying their back-to-school season!  I am SO ready for fall weather!!
