Being Cheap is Easy: Door to Door Organics: Box TWO {#Giveaway!}

Door to Door Organics: Box TWO {#Giveaway!}

May 25, 2015

Disclaimer: I have partnered with Door to Door organics for a review.  All opinions are my own and I promise to give my honest opinion.

So we are almost a month into this experiment with Door to Door Organics and we are quite pleased.

Quick refresher: we are pretty busy this time of year with the end of the school year, ballet, etc, so I chose to get shipments every other week, instead of weekly.  Also, despite being a family of 5, I chose the small mixed box (fruits and veggies) for our shipments, plus I add a few items from the grocery section.  I am using Door to Door Organics as a supplement to our groceries, not for ALL of our groceries.

There was SO much in our second boxes and it came out to $48!

Here's what we had inside:
* = items I added from the grocery section
  • Fruits: 3 apples, 3 pears, 3 nectarines, 1 mango
  • Veggies: head of napa cabbage, kale and lettuce, cucumber, red pepper, 2 tomatoes, 1/2 lb snap peas, rainbow carrots* and Organic Girl Super Greens*
  • Other additions: Gallon of 2% milk, corn tortillas and tortilla chips
Thoughts:
I love having the fresh produce on hand for meals.  It has been inspiring me to make healthier meals and I really don't have to do much additional grocery shopping. I made a quick Aldi trip for bananas, berries, etc and then another Meijer trip to pick up some sale items.  Our budget has stayed on track, if not lower than normal.  I said before, we spend at most $75-100 per week and since this is bi-weekly, it's really only $25 weekly out of our budget.  I have a feeling our food budget will go up closer to $100/week once the twins are home for the summer!!

If you love to cook or are obsessed with Pinterest, like me, Door to Door Organics is perfect for you.  You can be creative and add new produce you aren't familiar with and try out new recipes. That being said, if you hate to cook or thinking of meals, this may not be for you--there are plenty of other deliveries which will send you exactly what you need for specific meals.  On the Door to Door site, you can see recipes, which I really love for new ideas.

If you're following on Instagram, you may have noticed this tasty salad I made with veggies from the box.  I am officially obsessed with Napa Cabbage now!

I thought I had written a comment earlier. Maybe not. Our family loves all food fresh! And the convenience of Door to Door Organics would be amazing!
